A Sports jersey is much more than just a uniform that a player wears. It is a piece of sports memorabilia that numerous want to keep. If you own a sports jersey that has been signed by your favorite player, you need to keep it where other people can see it displayed proudly. To display it properly you need a jersey frame. Here’s the way to frame a sports jersey.

Measure the width and height of your sports jersey. Add an additional 5” to these measurements so that you will have the dimensions for the piece plywood that you will need in order to make the backing for the jersey frame. Use a pencil and a meter stick to draw the frame’s outline and then use a saw and cut the plywood to size.

To make the frame, use four piece of wood and cut them so that cover the sides of the jersey frame. This frame needs to be a minimum of 1 “ to 2” in width. After you have determined the size for the wood frame and it has been cut, make the angles that will permit the frames to fit together. To do this, cut the ends of the four pieces of wood at 45 degree angles.

To assembly the frame secure the edges of it with wood glue. After the glue has dried, use a hammer and some nails and firmly affix the edges of the frame. To prevent the nails from being visible, you should use small nails. You need to attach the nails from the backside of the jersey frame to keep the front of the frame neat and clean.

Buy some batting fabric and using the backing as a guide, cut them to size, and then sew on the fabric’s edges with a simple straight stitch. This will hide the frayed edges of the batting. Next, use hot glue to secure the batting fabric on a thin corkboard or a matt board. Whichever you use, it needs to be nailed to the backboard.

The next thing that you need to do is attach the sports jersey to the batting and the matt board or the corkboard. To keep it free from wrinkles, iron the sports jersey first. Use some starch from an aerosol spray can so that the sports jersey will remain in place and stiff. Then, use some pins to secure the sports jersey on the batting paper. Using a needle and thread stitch the sports jersey to the batting fabric. Ensure that you hide the seams on the backside of the jersey, in order to keep the front side neat.

Lastly, nail the batting, corkboard or matt board, and the backboard to the frame and then attach a sheet of Plexiglas that has been cut in accordance with the size of the frame. You may add some wire on the back of the frame and hang the sports jersey in your living room or bedroom.
