Khajuraho is a small hamlet located in Chhatarpur District of Madhya Pradesh State. It is the land of architectural delight where tourists can see fantasy sculptured in stone. The Eastern Group is famous for two historic Jain temples the Adinath and Parsvanath Temple. The Adinath temple is famous for its sculpted figures of Jain Tirthankar Adinath while the Parsvanath is renowned for its sculptures and intricate decorations with inscriptions from Jain's mythology. The Vamana and the Javari Temples are famous for the sculptured beauty of celestial nymphs in various sensuous poses.
Chaturbhuja devoted to the massive and carved image of lord Vishnu, and the Duladeo dedicated to Lord Shiva are the other two most popular temples of the Southern Group. These temples are known across the globe for its sculptured design and decorations. |
