The Channel Islands of Guernsey and Jersey are very close to the UK mainland and make great holiday destinations with The Cooperative.

Coop Holidays to this part of the world are great for families for a whole range of reasons. Below you'll find some more information on Channel Island holidays and the benefits of making the trip.

" Getting there

Depending on where you are in the UK you can choose to either fly to Guernsey or Jersey or take a ferry from the south coast.

However you decide to travel, the Cooperative can arrange your route to The Channel Islands and it won't take long at all from the mainland.

Channel Island holidays are popular with families because of the short travelling time and the better climate Guernsey and Jersey enjoy.

" The Weather

Jersey enjoys the most sunshine of any location in the UK. The summer climate in the Channel Islands is a combination of Southern England's and France's which leads to a good reliable summer most years for those travelling on Coop Holidays.
If you live in the northern part of the UK, the climate in the Channel Islands from around May to September time is likely to be considerably warmer and sunnier than you're used to at home.

" Beaches

As you'd expect from the fact that Guernsey and Jersey are islands, both have plenty of coastline and welcoming beaches to explore. Co-operative travel recommends visiting St. Aubin's Bay and St. Brelade's Bay in Jersey as these are particular highlights among the dozen beaches on the island.

If you're going to Guernsey with Co-op Travel then beaches are one thing you'll find it difficult to avoid; there are 27 of them in total. Not all of them are idyllic sandy beaches though; some of them are a bit more rugged. Whatever coast of the island you're visiting, you'll find a beach to suit your mood, from the sandy and bustling, to the peaceful and secluded.

" Things to do

With museums, castles, historic houses, beautiful bays, a wine estate and an old railroad among the highlights, you'll never be bored on your cooperative holiday in Guernsey or Jersey.

If you fancy taking to the water there are boat tours too which allow you to see the local wildlife up close. With both islands having such a large coastline, gentle walks by the sea are a great way to relax.
