It is not surprising to hear someone say that he has already tried to stop smoking a hundred times. After all, smoking is hard to stop especially for someone who has been smoking for a long time.
It is not surprising to hear someone say that he has already tried to stop smoking a hundred times. After all, smoking is hard to stop especially for someone who has been smoking for a long time.

Persons suffering from serious smoking addiction normally find it hard to quit smoking. Their body has been used to the nicotine substance and it is so hard to remove it from their system. The fact is that no matter how hard stop smoking may be, it should be stopped if you love your body and the people around you.

You may have seen some stop smoking advertisements that promise an easy way out of a smoking lifestyle. Sorry to disappoint you but there is actually no such thing. There is no easy way out. You must expect that quitting smoking is a difficult task but surely an achievable one.

Quitting Smoking Requires Discipline

Serious quitters are required to have discipline. Let us not forget that smoking is an addiction; therefore, it is not easy to get off the system. So those who smoke can relate to the difficulty of quitting.

Cigarettes contain nicotine, a very addictive substance. A person who smokes gets so much of this nicotine. The nicotine substance enters the lungs through inhalation. Then it enters the body’s bloodstream. The bloodstream carries the nicotine to the brain. Once it reaches the brain, nicotine causes a euphoric sensation to the smoker.

The sensation makes smokers feels good. They constantly want to experience the same feeling, thus, they smoke and smoke. They get too dependent on nicotine to give them the deceptive “good” feeling. What they don’t know is that this “good” feeling is already slowly killing them, weakening their bodies and their sense of discipline.

Quitting smoking has several withdrawal symptoms. One of the most common withdrawal symptoms is depression. Because the smoker is used to having the high feeling associated with smoking, his body will crave for it. When he doesn’t get what he wants, he will feel depressed. The brain becomes distressed because it doesn’t get the nicotine substance it craves for.

Withdrawal symptoms may discourage smokers about quitting. But think about the loads of health benefits that quitting brings about. It should be enough to encourage smokers to finally quit smoking. The good thing is that there are several holistic therapies centre and support groups that help smokers who are quitting.
